Successful Commissioning: An introduction to health commissioning
Eligibilty for free places
To be eligible for a free place, your organisation must be a charity, voluntary or community organisation or a social enterprise. Please ensure your organisation is eligible before booking a free place, otherwise you will be invoiced for the cost. There are up to two free places available for each eligible organisation. However, applicants should apply for one free place at a time. Each eligible organisation is entitled to book up to two free places only, regardless of the number of areas they may operate in.

Is your organisation health commission-ready?
This one day training course will provide an introduction to health commissioning for organisations working with children and young people. If you want to bid for tenders but are unclear about the commissioning landscape, are looking for an introduction to what commissioner want, this course is for you.
The course provides the opportunity for participants to explore health commissioning requirements, as well as undertake practical exercises around commissioning. The course will also offer the chance to meet colleagues, exchange experiences and share knowledge with others working in the children and young people's organisations in the region.
The training will help participants to:

Gain a greater awareness of the children and young peoples’ health and social care agenda.
- Increase their knowledge of the context and concepts of the commissioning process.
- Increase their understanding of what health commissioners are looking for.
- Understand what is needed to be commission ready.
- Gain an awareness of where to find support to work in partnership to be part of a commissioned programme.
Who should attend? The training is an introductory course for all those considering engaging with health commissioning. It is designed for strategic managers and development workers in children, young people and families organisations that deliver children, young people and family services. As it is an introductory course, it will be less useful for those already familiar with health commissioning procedures. Training is suitable for organisations of all sizes.

How do you prepare a successful health tender? Please
note that in order for delegates to benefit fully from this training, a
small amount of pre-training reading is required. It will take a
maximum of two hours and NCB will supply all documents two weeks prior
to the course date. PROGRAMME
Participants will explore the legal, and policy context for health commissioning, including; Healthy lives, brighter futures and Securing
better health for children and young people through world class
commissioning,The Children's Plan,The Children's Plan One Year On, and the Child Health Strategy.
Participants
will gain an appreciation of the importance of involving children,
young people and their families in designing, developing and evaluating
health related services.
This
theory-based session will identify the key skills, characteristics and
standards that organisations need to demonstrate in order to be
commission ready.
The
training day will conclude with the opportunity for delegates to
consolidate their knowledge and discuss their learning with colleagues.

Cancellation policy
This
training is offered free with a limited numbers of places. In the event
of a cancellation, please let us know in writing as soon as possible so
that the place can be offered to another organisation. Places cancelled
at less than three days notice will be subject to a £50 cancellation charge.
